  What a round
Congrats Gakra on the race win. Punished me for making my changes late on! Very, very close race between a lot of teams. I feel sorry for Margaret on the fastest lap! Predicted it perfectly, but doesn't get an award, as someone else did too, but earlier! Rare to see that, as normally, just being 1-2 thousandths off will earn the fastest lap prize.

Main championship's heating up nicely. Katalyst not slipping up, Dominik right in there, Schumacher looking dangerous due to getting a lot of the bad tyre out of the way, then, Gakra, Maverick and Chris not far off either (to name but a few).

Behind the two people I really don't want to play catch up against in the constructors. Definitely needing Dominik to slip up there to stand a chance, as he's stretching away at the top.

Lots of big names in the Eliminator, competing to be the first champion of that.

Champions Racing League might be more interesting than I initially thought. Thought Maverick was away and gone (still has a decent lead though). Expecting Schumacher might close in after Singapore, as he has a ton of ERS to use!

Then in the Cup, there could be some big, big draws early on. Could be Maverick v Dominik (assuming he gets through his WC round). Schumacher (if he gets through his WC round) would face a very dangerous Hase, while some big names fell in the groups.

Shaping up to be an exciting final stretch of the season on all fronts! Bring on Singapore!

@Chris, guess you'll have to wait and see. I had a little gamble with my main team, as that's the only way I'd have a chance closing the gap (I still will need a miracle in the final race, even if I can gain 15-20 points on this one), or at least getting into the top three.

Your goals are probably similar to mine; trying to get into the top three!

the leader copied my team. is that a good or bad thing? :D i think so i cant catch him anymore, but anyway, the jugdement in mexiko against my redbullteam killed my hope..

@Crashnburn, well, selections are now made on both sides, so we now just have to wait and see what happens. Looks like you had a fair gamble on the tyres, but in your position, it's probably a risk worth taking, as the 4 point ERS advantage alone most likely wouldn't counter-act a 15m budget deficit. May the best man win!

cup final
Good luck in the final. but not too much.... I am going to have to go a bit radical and have a lot of luck in Brazil.

Thank you, CarlisleFrost... I already tried to win the last race with another team, and hope only lasted a few seconds until Hülkenberg was out... and this time I almost buried hope equally fast when Ericsson was hit, but I'm glad he did so well afterwards that choosing Sauber turned into a good decision.
I wish you good luck and success to win at least one of the big trophies this year.

Well, Mexico certainly wasn't the most exciting of races (until the end anyway).

Plenty of movements on this site though! Early congrats to GaKra on the race win. I thought I'd get it, but made the mistake of going with Vettel+Manor instead of Verstappen+Sauber!

Overall review....
- World Championship: Katalyst's streak of 12 straight races in 1st place was brought to an end, with Schumacher up to 1st and Renault Rules not too far back in 3rd. Katalyst having to use the options in the final two races, plus Renault Rules having to use them once more definitely puts Schumacher as the favourite. Barring a surprise result, it's probably a 3 horse race for the title, as myself, Chris and Maverick have too much ground to make up. That said, a top 3 place might be up for grabs still, so still plenty to fight for!

- Constructors: With 2 races to go and a cushion of 30 points, a miracle is going to be needed to change things up here. Battle is on in the fight for 2nd and 3rd though, with several strong teams in the hunt! Could Schumacher be on for a double double (World Championship and Constructors two years in a row)?

- Eliminator: We're down to the final 5, with the title to be decided next race. Some big names in it and a few big names disappointed to be knocked out last round. Renault Rules has to be the favourite, due to having the largest budget, but in a 5 person contest, this is anything but a certainty! I'm expecting a close contest here for the prestigious first Eliminator trophy!

- Champions Racing League: After thinking the contest was Maverick's, the last race juuuust opened things up ever so slightly, although with high scores for myself and Maverick, it is a two horse race for the title (Allrace could mathematically win, but it'd take a miracle). Maverick has the high ground, with a 23 point advantage, but I have an extra 8m budget and an ERS advantage. Even with that, clawing back that many points is a big ask. Kind of a Hamilton v Rosberg end to the season, needing 2 wins (or two high scores), with other people getting between myself and Maverick to take points off of him! Looking forward to the battle, both fighting for a first CRL title.

- PFRL Cup: It's final time in Brazil! Both semi finals kind of went as expected, with Crashnburn beating Matt Burrows (who had less budget and had to use options), and me beating El Nino (who had less budget and no ERS). Crashnburn charging up his ERS with 9 points definitely helps make things closer, as budget-wise, he's about 15m down. Not taking anything for granted here, as we've seen in previous rounds, upsets can happen often! I want that first "big" trophy!

- Pro League & Rookie League: I neglected these in the past and those doing well definitely deserve credit! Renault Rules is absolutely racing away with the Pro League. Almost 100 points up and no more options to use. Truly dominant display there. The fight for 2nd and 3rd is a tight one though! For the rookie league, Alan Partridge is way in the lead. We have a 3 way fight for the other two trophies though, so that will surely go down to the wire!

Bring on Brazil!

@Chris, yeah, that race kind of ****ed for me. I was up late to choose between Vettel-McLaren-Mercedes (D1,Chassis,Engine) or Verstappen-Red Bull-Red Bull. I made the wrong choice! I'd say my chances for the World Championship are dead for this year, unless I get a miracle!

Overall review....
- World Championship: That race threw things wide open, with Katalyst taking a big hit, allowing the likes of Renault Rules, Schumacher and Chris to really close in. All three could be dangerous in future rounds, given their higher amount of options used up. Plus, Renault Rules's team has the biggest budget of all. It definitely makes things interesting for the next few races, as the lead could well change in Japan!

- Constructors: I think I jinxed Dominic by saying I think he was going to walk away with it. Bad race for Mercedes meant the lead changed over to Schumacher, albeit by a narrow margin. Fair gap between those two and the next "group" behind and with big budgets across their teams, that makes for a very interesting battle to the finish.

- Eliminator: Down to the top 40 now, with plenty of big names in the mix. Couple teams have huge budgets there. Sure those guys will be praying for no big surprises in future races, so they can make their budgets count!

- Champions Racing League: It is getting CLOSE. Top 4 teams split by just 5 points. It looks like advantage Maverick (though all the options and with a full ERS charge), but with things that close, it could turn in an instant. I fully expect Aston Martin and Schumacher to join the lead group soon too.

- PFRL Cup: Fair to say it was a round of shock results. Maverick, the top seed, gone, with hase (3rd seed), Margaret104 (6th seed) and GaKra (10th seed) also falling victim. Just 6 of the top 16 seeds progressed through their first round (and I'm VERY lucky to be one after a tie and going through on total points). king_1905's copy-ERS against an opponent not changing their team and not using all their budget means he's lost the change to charge his ERS, coming into a match with Daijhi2. So, his tactic may hurt him in that round (rooting for you Daijhi!). Maxwell v crashnburn should be a great match-up, as should several others. Naturally, I'll be looking to knock-out the copy-ERSing Giacomo. With hase, GaKra and Schumacher knocked out of the bottom half of the draw, that part has really opened up.

Finally, congrats to Schumacher on the race win. It's going to be an exciting run-in!

@Dominik: I don't really agree with your comparison, but even in that scenario, you wouldn't be guaranteed a "victory". If you're racing in a real race, your pit stop crew can mess up, you could speed in the pit lane etc. No matter what you do in a real F1 race, there's no 100% guarantee of being successful. My issue with the copy+ERS is you are 100% guaranteed to win, even before qualifying takes place, which takes all the excitement away.

The excitement, for example, in the WC Cup rounds were seeing things like....
- Could you beat Collywobbles and put yourself in an ERS position to compete with Maverick in the next round.
- Could Schumacher do the same in his match, so he could compete with Hase.

It'd be boring if we knew all the results before races took place.

That said, we've covered the best way to solve the problem; by just making changes late on.

Bring on Malaysia!

I agree with everyone to a certain degree.

If my opponent gave me the chance of an easy win with a choice of components that also could bring me many points and/or additional budget, I would take the offer. And yes, nothing heroic about it at all.
If opponent chose components with a bad points per money expectation or a risk to drop in value, I wouldn't go for the easy win but risk to find a hopefully better choice and to load my ERS a bit.

Now in order to avoid being copied like that, I would stick to the option I mentioned and hide my components. Having the bigger budget is not as important in one single race as it is in the course of a whole season. You just have to win your duel, and then it doesn't matter how many more points that opponent gets during the rest of the season... after all he's out. So I would hit the button, and if opponent beats me then at least it is deserved. But of course you are all doing me a favour if you don't use that button against me.
