Congrats to Giacomo who beat me with a tie-breaker. I know you will carry on and represent our rookie class well. Seems we are always neck and neck.

Wait until next yr. lol

Totally agree, that crash was unreal... if this was some action movie I would say they totally exaggerated... I'm relieved that guardian angels also work on Sundays. May Grosjean completely recover soon. And I guess it's safe to say Kvyat will now never get rid of his torpedo nickname anymore.

Thank you for congrats, CarlisleFrost. I hoped I won't need a retirement of Perez to win, as my best team in overall will suffer from the incident, but I'm not sure if I would have made it without that. Gasly's tires sure looked, well, tired, and this might not have ended well. Also I am glad to have chosen Gasly and not Stroll or Vettel... anyway, if you have to deal with opponents like I had them, a bit of luck sure comes handy.
And congrats to your Pole Position, of course... glad to see you succeeded with Verstappen/Bottas combination.

Crazy race overall and I'm massively relieved to have seen Grosjean walk away from his accident, as I feared the worst when it took place. It's truly a testament to the safety in the sport today that a driver could survive such a crash. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery soon!

With Perez's late retirement, I'd say congrats GaKra. 2020 Cup champion and a well-deserved winner. Had Perez not retired, I think it would have been incredibly close!

Thank you, mate... and also sorry for that, as you would have deserved to play for the title, too. Your team would probably have beaten mine in most other races. But this one was crazy, and quali even more so... to be honest I wasn't very successful overall, but this of course made my day. Looks as if the final clash will be pretty much 50/50... the only thing I know is that Maverick won't get a wildcard this time.

Congrats @GaKra, great win. I bet you're glad you didn't go with your Bottas-based team! I've got my fingers crossed for you in the final, as you deserve it based on the way you've gone through so far.

Absolutely gutted that it wasn't a closer fight, as it didn't really live up to what I was hoping for.

Good luck to you, too, CarlisleFrost! In case you don't believe in the sincerity of my wish, check out my best team in overall and you know why I don't have another choice.

Glad I didn't end up copying your team which would have almost happened if you made your alternative choice. I also had another option in mind and since you waited til the last minute, too (not a big suprize), I had to make a choice. The other one would have been Wolff, Bottas (2.), Verstappen (3.), Williams, Honda Factory, Prime. Probably I would have gone with that one if Mercedes dominated trainings and Russell wouldn't have to start from last place. And of course if I could charge my ERS to 13 points as planned after last race, I would have chosen something with Mercedes Factory engine, too.

@GaKra, nice last minute changes. I actually had two teams prepared and ready to enter at the end and made a last moment decision. Amusingly, the other one would have been Merc, Verstappen, Leclerc, Ferrari, Honda Factory and Prime, with the same qualifying predictions as you and an 8 point ERS charge (so I'd have 7 left for the final IF I got through). That might've made things more boring, so I'm glad I chose the set-up I did!

With all our different parts, I'm sure it'll be a nerve-wracking weekend.

As for Maverick, I'm disappointed but not surprised in his tactics. If I was Flavio, I'd have made the change he did early to bait Maverick in, then changed ERS to overtake at the end when it'd be too late for Maverick to re-adjust. I am surprised experienced players keep making the same mistakes against him, given the reputation.

Anyway, good luck for the weekend (but hopefully not too much! :P).

Thank you for the compliments, CarlisleFrost. Needless to say I have huge respect for you, too... there is a reason why I risked trying to charge ERS big against last year's PFRL World Champion. Of course the fact that they had to use Option tyres made the decision a bit easier... Verstappen's tyres however ruined my plans but I had to be glad to stay in the race. You saw through all this, of course, and are now in the better position, but we both know it takes a bit of luck to win in Cup, too, and I had that last year and also this year so far, so nothing will keep me from trying to make this weekend a nailbiter for you.

Edit: Interesting clash... Mercedes / Alpha Tauri vs. Red Bull / Ferrari , so to say.

PFRL Cup - Quarters and Semis
Looking forward to this weekend's return to Turkey and a great track!

The last round certainly had plenty of surprises and led to some eventful quarter final matches.
- Hiensi made the mistake of trying to recharge ERS in a match against Maverick. Never smart, given their track record of copy-ERSing, which made this the only match-up with no real drama during the race weekend.

- I'd say Flavio beating Schumacher was the big surprise of the round. Schumacher had an 8m budget advantage AND an ERS advantage, so came in as the favourite, but Verstappen's retirement decided it. Bold move from Flavio to charge ERS, which could be crucial for the semi finals.

- I'd like to say commiserations to Giacomo in his match against me. I came into the round with a huge budget advantage, a tyre advantage (he was forced on options) and an ERS advantage, so I think most people would have seen me as a big favourite in this one. Some really smart looking team choices from him though meant that after qualifying, he might have been the favourite to advance (at best, I thought it was 50:50 before the race). Gasly's early retirement turned things and Verstappen's retirement was the final nail in the coffin here and I breathed a big sigh of relief!

- Congrats GaKra and bad luck to Keke in the final match of the round. Like my match, I'd say GaKra was a big favourite here thanks to budget and tyres. Had Gasly not retired, this could have been a close one, but that early retirement meant GaKra would have been feeling pretty comfortable here through the race.

As for the semi finals.....
- Maverick v Flavio could be interesting. 6m budget advantage for Maverick, but their copy-ERS leaves Flavio with a 5 point ERS advantage to compensate. Smart team choices from Flavio and there could be an upset on the cards here! He's already knocked out 2 seeds in the form of agentP and Chris, as well as Schumacher (one of the biggest names in the competition), so can he take another big name down?

- GaKra vs myself in the other semi final. I'd say this is the ultimate heavyweight clash for the Cup, as between us, we've won 4 out of the last 5 PFRL Cups (him in 2015 and 2019, me in 2016 and 2017). To say I have huge respect for GaKra and his achievements feels like an understatement and it'll be a pleasure to go head-to-head for a place in the final. Coming into the quarter finals, I thought he'd be a favourite for this match, as at that point he had a budget advantage and was going for a big ERS charge to shrink the advantage I had there. The race changed a lot though, and the budget advantage is gone (swung from 2m more for GaKra to 1m more for me), while GaKra only charging 3 ERS points gives me the high-ground there (15 points vs 8). Whoever wins will have a shot at a 3rd title and a chance to equal Dominik's record of Cup wins. I'm not looking beyond this match though, as this'll be one to throw everything at!

Good luck to all four, as well as everyone else (especially the 5 in the Eliminator finals)!

Brutally unlucky result for you in that @Alan_T_Riley. You were up against it due to the budget deficit you had, but it was a solid Cup run.

The round this weekend was crazy too.
- The top half of the draw has no top 16 seeds left in it (all wildcard teams left), following defeats for katalyst (#1), Revolux (#8), Chris (#13) and Ferrari SpA (#5).
- The bottom half is almost the opposite, with only 1 non-wildcard team remaining!

Congrats to the victors...
- Hiensi knocking out katalyst, the #1 seed in dominant fashion.
- Maverick upsetting Revolux (I thought Revolux's big ERS balance would prove too much to overcome, but was very wrong).
- Flavio knocking out Chris, despite using option tyres.
- Solid win for Schumacher against Ferrari SpA. ERS well-charged too for the coming rounds and they have the highest budget in the top half of the draw.
- Giacomo knocked out spystocks, who was a higher seed. They also overcame a chunky budget disadvantage.
- GaKra won a huge battle with Daijhi2. I thought Daijhi2 had things in control after qualifying, but it was an amazing comeback to get through. Two huge scores.
- Keke was also behind against Daijhi after qualifying. I thought it was looking like it'd be Daijhi v Daijhi 2 in the next round, but we had another turnaround here on race day.

Lot of big names going into the quarter finals. World champions in GaKra, Schumacher, Maverick and Keke, former Cup winners Hiensi and myself, Flavio, who's having a really strong 2020 (4th overall and 10th in the Constructors), and Giacomo, who's been at the sharp end on quite a few events in recent years.
